This Is My Brain On Baseball: In which I fall in love.

Before 2014, I rarely paid attention to the Kansas City Royals and baseball in general. But in 2014, something happened to my brain. Actually, my heart.

When did I know I was in love? Because there was no other way to describe it.
I thought about it all the time. Friends would ask me how I was and I would find some way to steer the conversation to my new passion, baseball.

I found I would talk to perfect strangers--well how could they be strangers if they were wearing a team t-shirt or hat? Token of their affection, as the token of mine. We could talk about last night's game, next year's chances, who was the star of the organization...

Those were things I used to be able to lightly touch on, make small talk with. When I fell in love, though, every conversation was important: Did you see how Moose beat the shift? What about that great play by Esky? How many times has Cain been hit by a pitch? Don't you hate it when they intentionally walk [name the player: Morales/Hosmer/Gordon/Cain]--it just makes me furious!

Did you see it? Do you feel what I feel?

This is about an exploration of baseball, starting with my still-new love of the Kansas City Royals.
